Taking a small, yet resoundingly significant leap towards becoming an icon for women empowerment in the country and the Indian Air Force, pilot Avani Chaturvedi is on course to create history!
Today, Avani Chaturvedi became the first Indian woman pilot to break the sound barrier by flying a 30 minute solo sortie, inching much closer to becoming the first Indian woman pilot deployed for combat. Shattering the glass ceiling, Avani Chaturvedi has come a long way from a small town in Madhya Pradesh, to becoming an inspiration for women all over India.
Women in the armed forces are not only some of the most revered and esteemed role models for young girls, but are also the flag bearers for the movement of women empowerment and gender equality.
Avanai Chaturvedi and her historic achievement will pave the way for more women to join the armed forces, and dream of following in her footsteps, serving and protecting our great nation. She told Times Of India, "I want to fly the best fighter aircraft and learn more and more each day,"
