In perhaps the sweetest news this week, the Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur announced that veteran actress Waheeda Rehman was honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's most credible film award. Rehman is best known for her roles in classics like Guide, Pyaasa, Kaagaz ke Phool, Rang De Basanti, and more.
Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha tie the knot
Chopra and Chadha tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Udaipur. "Our forever begins now," they wrote on social media. Here's wishing the couple a happy married life!
Swara Bhasker becomes a mother
Actress Bhasker delivered a baby girl on September 23. She and her husband, Khan named the baby girl 'Raabiyaa'. Taking to Instagram, Bhasker called her newborn, "A prayer heard, a blessing granted, a song whispered, a mystic truth." True words, indeed!
'2018' is India's official entry for Oscars 2024
Tovino Thomas-starrer Malayalam survivor drama '2018: Everyone Is A Hero' has been selected as India's official entry to the Oscars. Directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, the film revolves around the 2018 Kerala floods.

"Jab tak Tiger mara nahi, tab tak Tiger haara nahi." YRF Spy Universe released the teaser for the Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif-starrer 'Tiger 3'. Whether Tiger is a patriot or traitor, the question looms while Khan, as Tiger, fights off enemies single-handedly and with style. Tiger 3 will be in theatres during Diwali.
SKF releases 'Farrey' teaser
"What's Farrey?" someone asks as the teaser ends. We don't know what is, but it surely looks very cryptic. Salman Khan Films recently released the teaser of their upcoming thriller mystery 'Farrey.' The film will release in theatres on November 24, 2023.
Alia Bhatt announces 'Jigra'
With an announcement video that looks straight out of an anime, Bhatt announced her next film 'Jigra'. The film will be directed by Vasan Bala, and will release in theaters on September 27, 2024.
'Dhak Dhak' poster revealed
"4 ordinary women come together for an extraordinary journey of emotions, adventures, and discovery. #DhakDhak in cinemas 13th October," wrote actress Fatima Sana Shaikh as she revealed the poster of her upcoming film 'Dhak Dhak.' The film also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Dia Mirza, and Sanjana Singh.
Japanese Film Festival is coming to town!
The Japanese Film Festival is coming to India, commencing on October 12. The film festival will be conducted in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Delhi among others. It will feature 10 Japanese films full of romance, humour, and drama.
The Hollywood Writers' Strike ends
The WGA (Writers' Guild of America) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have finally reached an agreement, thus ending the 148-day-long strike. As per Variety, "The MOA includes increases to minimum wage and compensation, increased pension and health fund rates, improvements to terms for length of employment and size of writing teams (which had been shrinking drastically in recent years), and better residuals (which are like royalties), including foreign streaming residuals." The Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), however, is still on strike and will resume its negotiations on Monday.
'The Office' reboot is in making
Now that the writers' strike is over, reportedly, the famous sitcom 'The Office' is all set to have its reboot. Greg Daniels, co-creator of the American version, is reportedly all set to make the reboot. More details are awaited.
