A young veterinarian, Dr. Priyanka Reddy was brutally murdered in Telangana, her body found burnt and stranded near a culvert.
A 26-year-old veterinarian, Dr. Priyanka Reddy went missing on Wednesday night near Hyderabad. It was next morning that her body was recovered, burnt and stranded. The police suspect that she may have been raped before the perpetrators burned her body. As reports suggest, the woman was returning home to from the veterinary hospital where she worked. Her body was found in Shadnagar near a culvert on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru National Highway, about 30 kilometres away from Shamshabad where her two-wheeler had reportedly suffered a puncture the night before. .
An audio call recording suggests that the culprits approached her under the guise of extending help while she was talking to her sister. The call recording places this incident around 9:15 pm. The victim's sister shared that her phone was switched off minutes after the call. According to reports, the sister revealed that she had advised Priyanka to go to the nearest toll gate and wait as the victim felt scared in the presence of many unknown men around her.
As reported by NDTV, the sister said, "I even asked her to come away leaving the vehicle. When I called after some time, her phone was switched off". The woman's body was completely burnt and the only way her family could identify her body was with the help of a locket she wore around her neck. Shamshabad DCP Prakash Reddy told NDTV, "We suspect she was doused with kerosene and burnt.''
The latest report by New Indian Express suggests that the Cyberabad Police have detained two truck drivers and two cleaners suspected to have murder Dr. Priyanka Reddy.
