December

We spoke to Jinesh Bagadia, Shivani Singh, Rhea Gurnani, Aashi Adani and Mohak Narang about their favorite December tradition and here's what they had to say!

December is pretty magical year on year, and we're not sure if it's the holiday-themed movies, music, and Christmas treats that usually set the mood for the entire month or simply the idea of warmth, comfort, fuzzy socks, and winter! But it's safe to say that most love how welcoming December is and maybe that's because it brings with it a lot of hope.

While COVID-19 and its after-effects dampened the holiday spirit for some of us over the last two years, it's taught us to slow down and find joy in the little things that matter and stay with us a while longer. This December, we're loving the idea of reinventing December traditions and what they mean to us today. So we asked these content creators what makes December special for them!

Here's what they had to say!

"So lately, a lot of things have changed in my life and now I have a contributing partner, Charu who loves sending snail mails more than me and has great aesthetic and craft talent. My December tradition is not religious or materialistic. It's about a quaint old charming postcard :) Every year around this time, I send people postcards. Simple yet precious. The entire process is so heartfelt that there's joy in every little detail of it. Buying the cards, mentally earmarking them for the special people in your life, Writing random messages, decorating, doodling, dropping the card in the box, and saying a small prayer for it to reach its home safely. And then the joy of people reading your mail, telling you how much it means to them and then showing it off to their world :) Joy hi Joy!"

He also added, "In 2017, Google had introduced an instant payment app called Tez. A lot of friends were quick to join it but there weren't many transactions as such. The ecosystem was still taking shape. At that time on Christmas eve, I decided that I'd surprise people by sending them Rs. 1 directly into their bank as shagun or a happy vibe. I believe that joy comes to you when you're not actively seeking it. In this context, no one expected a notification at 12 a.m. on December 25 that would be a 'shagun ka ek rupya' from Jinesh. Many who were not actively in touch also found it warm and it was a great conversation starter and a bahana to check on people and their well-being :)"

Shivani Singh - Content Creator and Loopy Lawyer

"As creatures of habit, we can be comforted in the repetition of traditions. Cliche it may sound but a glass of home-brewed mulled wine and a slice of plum cake around this time of the year is my favorite December tradition. It's something I look forward to and plan towards it -  even the simple act of selecting a good red wine or looking for a new bakery offers me a combined sense of calm and excitement. This December, expand on little things you love - A very happy festive season to you."

"All my family and friends know that I have major December fever! It’s by far my favorite month of the year and it’s packed with traditions. Every year on December 5, my mom and I begin the month by spending the entire day decorating our Christmas tree and we make it a point to buy at least one new ornament for good luck. We always end up redecorating parts of the house and adding a festive feel to it. Whether it’s swapping out our living room cushions for Christmas-themed ones or hiding little Santa ornaments around the house. We do it all. I would be lying if I said that my Christmas playlist isn’t my favorite part! Music, in general, is such a feel-good factor but Christmas music is indefinitely a synonym for good vibes. December calls for only and only Christmas music and movies (even though this year I made an exception for Spiderman. It’s the one time of the year where I find the courage to replace my coffee with hot chocolate because everything just feels right. And talking about hot chocolate, if your 25th
morning doesn’t start with hot cocoa and strawberries, you are missing out! Although this is my favorite time of the year, this time was a little low-key in comparison to other ones, as we chose to stay home and safe."

"Every year for Christmas, my friends and I get together for our annual lunch. We spend the rest of the day in bliss, catching up, playing games, and being away from our busy lives. Last year for one such lunch, we planned a themed party where everyone came dressed as their favorite TV characters. I went dressed as Phoebe from F.R.I.E.N.D.S while everyone else lived up to their characters. These Christmas lunches are one of my most favorite traditions and I wouldn’t trade them for the world."

Mohak Narang: GenZ Digital Content Creator

"So every year, I write down all my goals and dreams. I have been creating content since a very young age. I always had the dream to purchase my own car, my own bike, my own HOUSE. And fortunately, I could complete everything this year. This year was not less than a rollercoaster ride. And at this time of year, I just recap all I have done. I create content, so I have all the memories captured with me. I start going through them. From January till December, what all I have done, I go through it. The best experience which I won't forget for years would be the longest zip line I did, it was my dream to do this. This was always on my bucket list at the top, finally this year I completed it and what a hell of an experience this was. Looking forward to a brighter and better next year. Always looking forward to something extravagant and exciting, let's hope for the best. Let's Go 2022."
