Darlings starring Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah was released on Netflix on August 5. Let's have a look at how the Janta reacted to it!
Directed by Jasmeet K. Reen and produced by Red Chilies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine Productions, Alia Bhatt's banner, Darlings is a bold attempt at infusing dark comedy with a really important message on domestic violence. Badru (Alia Bhatt) falls in love with Hamza (Vijay Verma) under the expectations that she'll live happily ever after with her sweet little family. But little does she know that he would turn out to be a raging alcoholic who'd hit her every night. Her mother, Shamshu (Shefali Shah) has been through similar abuse in her life and wants Badru to leave her husband as soon as possible. But Badru does not want to let go of her plans of having a family with him and stays in the hope of him changing into the man of her dreams someday. There's a limit to everything though and after yet another violent incident that leads to Badru losing something really close to her heart, she finally decides to set him straight in her own way.
Both Shamshu and Badru become a part of quite a messy situation along with Zulfi (Roshan Matthew) who has a secret crush on Shamshu. How they go about things is hilarious to watch but also leaves you numb when you get to see the reality of things.
