Mother's day

In a heartfelt conversation with us content creators, Shreya Jain, Ashish Sharma and Surbhi Pisal Ahuja shared their favorite mother's day gestures that they have received or given.

Every year, Mother's Day comes as a gentle reminder to pause and reflect on the unwavering love and support that our mothers have showered upon us throughout the years. While we acknowledge that expressing gratitude for this bond doesn't require a designated day, Mother's Day provides a unique opportunity to honour and celebrate the remarkable women who have shaped our lives in countless ways.

From heartfelt notes to big surprises, Mother's Day gestures come in all shapes and sizes, each carrying the weight of love and appreciation. The size of this gesture matters less than the feelings it evokes. It's about the warmth that spreads through your heart and the overwhelming sense of love and appreciation that fills your soul. Even knowing all this, when Mother’s Day comes around the corner, we ask ourselves, "What's the perfect way to celebrate it?" But the idea of a perfect Mother's Day plan can vary from person to person. We reached out to creators and asked them to share their most memorable Mother's Day gestures, both given and received. Their responses ranged from simple yet heartfelt acts of kindness to grand gestures that left a lasting impact.

Shreya Jain and Ashish Sharma shared their favorite mother's day memories:

Shreya Jain, "As Mother's Day approaches, I find myself thinking a lot about my mom and the lessons she taught me as I was growing up. One of the most important things she emphasized was the value of independence, even when we were fortunate enough to have a comfortable life. My mom has always had a love for fashion, and her sense of style has been a huge inspiration to me. That's actually why I decided to dive into the fashion industry myself. So, when I got the chance to collaborate with Pernia's Pop-Up Shop, I was over the moon.

But here's the twist: when it came time to pick out an outfit for the collaboration, I didn't choose something for myself. Instead, I decided to surprise my mom. I picked out this gorgeous outfit just for her. And let me tell you, when I gave it to her, she was thrilled. It wasn't just because it was a fancy designer piece – it was because I'd earned it myself and picked it out with all my heart. That moment meant the world to me. It wasn't just about giving her a nice gift; it was about showing her how much I appreciate her and the values she's passed down to me. So, this Mother's Day, I want to take a moment to thank her for everything she's done for me and for always pushing me to be independent and chase after my dreams."

Ashish Sharma, “One random day. My mother called me and told me about a dream she had the night before. She said, 'I dreamt that I was making your favourite rajma chawal, and while I was making it, I was crying, thinking that you wouldn’t be able to eat it as usual. Suddenly, you came from behind and casually said, "Khana ban gaya, ma"?' She described feeling the whole thing so vividly in her dream as if I were really there.

Sometimes when you hear such things from your mother, it really touches you, and it did. It just came to my mind that I had to make this dream a reality for her because I felt she was really missing me. She narrated this dream to me in the morning, and I urged her to make rajma chawal for dinner just for the sake of the dream. She didn’t agree to it, but I really pushed her and said I’d video call her and all that. I instantly booked my tickets that same evening and reached my hometown, Delhi. When I was just 5 minutes away, I video-called her, and she showed me that she had actually made what I had told her to. I said okay and disconnected. I replicated exactly what she saw in her dream, and as I write this, I am reliving that whole experience we had."

Surbhi Pisal Ahuja said, “My baby was just a few months old, and I was still healing, experiencing sleepless nights, and adjusting to the whirlwind of being a new mom. Amidst the chaos, I completely forgot it was Mother’s Day! However, my husband surprised me with flowers and wished me a ‘Happy First Mother’s Day!’ At first, it felt quite strange, and it took me a few seconds to realize that from gifting my own mother on Mother’s Day, I had now taken on the exact same role—I AM NOW A MOTHER! It was a profound realization. Growing up from wishing my mom on Mother’s Day to having my husband and baby wish me the same was a poignant moment. Since then, things haven’t been the same; nurturing and caring for a child is exhausting, and life feels different. But amidst the challenges, I feel incredibly grateful and blessed. I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything in the world."
