The Delhi court convicted the former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the rape and kidnap of the Unnao victim.
Former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar has been convicted in the rape and kidnapping of a minor. The court convicted Sengar under the Indian Penal Code and the POSCO act for the offence of a public servant committing penetrative sexual assault against a child,
claiming that the testimony of the victim is "truthful and unblemished" against a "powerful person". The co-accused Shashi Singh was also charged.
The Unnao girl was kidnapped and raped in 2017 when she was a minor. The court will have a detailed hearing on the case on 18th December, 2019.

The court also noted that the victim's family was wrongfully charged with false cases after the victim wrote a letter to the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The MLA was asked to leave BJP after the case around the accident that killed the victim's aunt and left the victim with multiple injuries was brought to light.

The trial was held in-camera after the court transferred the case to Delhi.
