Thalaivi

Kangana's Thalaivi was recently released on Netflix after the theatrical release but could it recreate the magic of Jayalalithaa for the janta? Let's find out!

Kangana Ranaut has always remained in the news for one thing or another. But this time it's all about her film Thalaivi where she essayed the role of the actor turned politician Amma of the south, J Jayalalithaa. Helmed by AL Vijay, the film is biographical in nature and tells the story of the life and struggles of Jayalalithaa. It also stars Aravind Swamy, Nasser, Bhagyashree, Samuthirakani, Thambi Ramaiah, Raj Arjun, Jisshu Sengupta other than Kangana Ranaut in pivotal roles. The film was released in theatres worldwide on September 10, 2021, but has been recently released on Netflix.

Thalaivi majorly focuses on Jayalalithaa's life as an actress, her relationship with the legendary M. G. Ramachandran, her thundering rise to power as the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and the struggles she faced in politics for being a woman. J Jayalalithaa was quite a strong-willed, irrepressible woman who chose to be bold and rise and fight for power over a party and state at the time when it was simply filled with men. She defied all odds and was quite a famous personality often regarded as the Amma in the south. Does this movie do justice to the life of Jayalalithaa or simply succumbs to being an ode, let's find out from the janta!
