Charlie and the Chocolate Factory starring the one and only Johnny Depp remains one of the most iconic movies of Tim Burton with ethereal views of chocolate that’ll make you reach inside the screen and have one!
Dear Willy Wonka,
Just like millions of kids around the world, I am addicted to candies too. To know that there was a movie like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which talks about how candy is made was so fascinating to me; this fictional world where oompa loompas exist and there’s a whole garden full of candies, a big lake of chocolate and most importantly, you, Willy Wonka, the man who created this world. You looked somewhat intimidating at first but you turned out to be the most soft spoken and polite person ever. A unique idea of a golden ticket to go visit the mysterious chocolate factory, where the world’s best chocolate is made which turned out to be a rollercoaster journey was entertaining to say the least! The golden ticket itself looked so shiny and crisp, it made me want to win one too.
The story was more than just a few kids visiting the chocolate factory with their guardians, it was a lesson in disguise in so many ways. It was about teaching spoiled brats a lesson and how kind hearted and less materialistic people always win in life but it was also about childhood trauma reflecting in your adulthood. Your father was a renowned dentist who never let you have candy ever in your entire childhood so you just made a living out making chocolates as an adult so other kids can at least have the childhood that you couldn’t.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes from the mind of Roald Dahl and was brought to life by Tim Burton’s oddly intriguing mind. The world of fantasy has always been his genre of expertise and it just remains a movie that has made a mark on so many young minds around the world. The visuals of the film were truly aesthetic in an old Tim Burton kind of way. Johnny Depp who played your character in the film is actually such an interesting character to know about. And the best part is that this movie is a fan favourite for readers as well as moviegoers as it actually does justice to the book. Chocolates are a stress buster, our comfort dessert, and such a huge part of our lives as children and as adults and the movie too feels like all of those things. It looks bright and fun with a subtle undertone of addressing issues without it being too much in your face.
Happy Chocolate Day, Mr Wonka! There’s no other film we’d rather watch on this day and of course while eating all our favourite candies!
