The Centre issues a warning to the State and the Union Territories against the use of N-95 masks.

All the States and Union Territories have been warned against the use of N-95 masks especially the ones with respiratory valves. According to the Centre, these masks do not stop the spread of the virus and goes against the whole purpose of the containment measures taken by the government.

In a letter to the Principal Secretaries of Health and Medical Education of States, the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) in the Ministry of Health said that there has been inappropriate use of the N-95 masks with respiratory valves among the general public other than the health workers.

The government also stressed on its April issue wherein it had suggested that the people can wear a mask that is homemade in cotton. This mask needs to be washed in warm water for five minutes and dried after every use. It had also suggested that every member of a family should have their own mask and it should not be shared with anyone.
