New Update
Zeenat Aman

The woman who needs zero introduction, Zeenat Aman's Instagram has been one for the books ever since she made her Insta debut in February 2023.

Glancing through Zeenat Aman's feed feels like chancing upon a treasure box that's filled up to the brim with photos of what once was and the glorious stories hidden in those sepia filters and the people in those frames, caught in motion or simply sitting still. Her Instagram may be full of nostalgia and lewks, but correct me if I'm wrong; that's not why most of us, Gen Z included, follow her today. She's had a way with words for as long as 90s kids like me can remember; pick any interview of hers over the years, and you'll find proof!

She's perpetually unfiltered and unabashed, and that translates into her captions and the stories she tells. For those of us who derive our confidence from icons like her, watching her speak her mind about anything and everything 'life-related' feels empowering, her most recent post included. At a time when, despite their reach and influence, Indian content creators across genres are facing troubles of their own with brands and being questioned over their presence and relevance at major events and festivals taking place globally, Zeenat Aman's post about being undervalued and underpaid during brand collaborations and endorsements while being approached for being an "icon" and a "fashion inspiration" feels too relatable for many.

Here's everything she said!

This isn't the first time we've heard of brands wanting to "collaborate" with a celebrity or a content creator, given the clout and glamour they come with. And while this is part of a larger discussion, it may be time for brands to start being more mindful of how they approach someone.
