Day 2 witnessed credible movies, stunning debuts, and inauguration of India Pavilion by Minister Dr. L. Murugan
Cannes film festival kickstarted on May 16 with glamour as well as controversies. Cannes 2023 Day 2 opened with premieres of Pedro Almovodar's "Strange Way Of Life" and Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Kaibutsu" aka "Monster". Strange Way of Life, a homoerotic Western, stars Pedro Pascal and Ethan Hawke. And Monster stars Sakura Ando who also featured in Kore-eda's 2018 Palme d'Or winner "Shoplifters." On Day 2, the red carpet witnessed stunning looks from Viola Davis, Pia Wurtzbach, Coco Jones, and others. Indians at Cannes, particularly, had something special to look forward to as Minister Dr. L. The India Pavilion inaugurated at Cannes 2023
Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan inaugurated the Indian Pavilion at Cannes 2023 on Day 2 of the film festival. Director Madhur Bhandarkar, Oscar-winner Guneet Monga, politician-actor Kushboo Sundar, and actors Vijay Varma, Sara Ali Khan, Esha Gupta, and others attended the inaugural.
BLACKPINK's Rosé debuts at Cannes 2023
BLACKPINK member Rosé attended her first Cannes Film Festival to watch the premiere of Kore-eda's Monster. Her debut became the talk of the town as she walked the red carpet wearing a black, high neck Saint Laurent gown (she is an ambassador for the brand).
Mrunal Thakur's debut makes heads turn
Mrunal Thakur made an impressive debut at Cannes 2023 wearing a chic black lace pantsuit along with a dazzling sequined jacket.
Guneet Monga walks the red carpet
Guneet Monga, who earlier won the Oscar for "The Elephant Whisperers," walked the red carpet with Dr L Murugan and Manipuri actor, Kangabam Tomba. She attended the film festival as a part of the Indian delegation.
Cricketer Anil Kumble becomes the first cricketer to attend Cannes
The former Indian cricketer, Anil Kumble, and his wife, Chetana Kumble, attended Cannes 2023, thus making their debut. Kumble is the the first cricketer to have attended the film festival.
Sara Ali Khan and Urvashi Rautela walk the red carpet again
Khan walked the red carpet for the second time, once again wearing a dress with a desi touch designed by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. Rautela walked the red carpet wearing an orange tulle dress.
