Ditch your traditional colour palette and give your wedding trousseau a stunning blue upgrade!
The 2020 colour of the year is “classic blue” for a good reason. Blue is always said to be a very calm and subtle colour, why not use it for this years this wedding season? It’s time to do something outside our comfort zone while keeping the tradition going. Weddings are very important in our culture and it obviously revolves around what the bride and groom want. How about we take things in a little different direction with the “classic blue” colour of 2020.
Take a look at the classic blue alternatives to bride and bridesmaid outfits in 2020:
- Statement accessories: We all know that no outfit is complete without a good accessory to go with. Pull out those velvet or suede pumps and give a “something blue” look to your outfit. These will go perfectly with your fusion wear outfits for sangeet or receptions. Hair accessories are trending all around, instead of the hair clips, go for a good classic blue floral and pearl jewellery hairpiece/ headband. The statement accessory for 2020 can be polki choker with paired with big earrings.
- Twinning: Everyone loves the good old twinning outfit trend. Go for a subtle powder blue fusion wear outfit for the bridesmaids and the traditional royal blue lehengas for the bride. Make it a connected yet mismatched look for the perfect day for the bride. If not the outfits, there’s always an option for accessories like hairpieces or footwear, whatever goes with the outfit.
- Long trail Gowns: Well, the tradition of wearing a saree or a two-piece lehenga at a sangeet or reception is long gone. Choose a long trail gown with some heavy embroidery in the front or even royal blue a drape silhouette. This look is all about styling with minimal accessories like diamond necklaces or long earrings and pairing it up with some subtle make-up giving an elegant look.

- Pleated Saree: The trend for ruffle sarees was so 2019, it’s time we switch it to a more elegant style. From Shilpa Shetty to Sonam Kapoor, the celebs and influencers have been carrying the pleated sarees very well. The bridesmaids can opt for this in the classic blue colour along with pearl chokers or diamond earrings.
- Abla/ Mirror Work lehengas or sarees: Kaanch embroidery is one that always makes an outfit stand out. Less bling and more mirror embroidery are just what you need for a perfect sundowner wedding. Go for velvet royal blue lehengas with Abla work done and pair it with some good polka choker and Voila!
- Bling Bling: Bling Bling is one of the hottest and trendiest outfits for sangeet night during the wedding occasions. The night with disco light and the blingy outfit is one way to get noticed. Experiment with the bling top and plain black pants with net dupattas.

- Ditch the Lehenga and opt for contemporary outfits: Pan-suit with a different kind of top or peplum tops with pants for bridesmaids will surely be almost comfort and statement at the wedding functions. Bright top and plain saree or pants will be a show stopper for you.
