A storm is brewing on Twitter under the hashtag #BlockNarendraModi, and both the right and left leaning Twitter janta has been going berserk in the wake of Gauri Lankesh’s cold blooded murder, and the subsequent political blame game.
Sadly, one of the top trending topics on Twitter yesterday was #GauriLankeshMurder and while there were many who were rightly expressing grief, sorrow and condemnation at the way her voice was snuffed out, there were countless lowlifes who appeared jubilant.
Some called for a systematic elimination of dissenting voices terming them anti nationals, whereas some were ecstatic that ‘a commie/commy was killed’. Many of these accounts who tweeted such vile and disgraceful comments were followed by the Prime Minister on Twitter, and #BlockNarendraModi is the response by many who are flabbergasted at the PM’s silence on the issue.
There have been no explanations as to why the Prime Minister of the world’s biggest democracy who is one of the pioneers when it comes to leveraging social media to reach the citizens, follows Twitter accounts that regularly abuse, threaten, and make disgusting comments towards whoever they want to.
People have been left wondering whether there is a state sanction behind the actions of these ‘dissent crushers’ and maybe that is the reason why the Prime Minister has not said a word.
And while the number of tweets under the #BlockNarendraModi hashtag continue to balloon, the BJP IT Cell has found their work for today, and it’s mocking the people blocking the Prime Minister.
BJP and especially Modi supporters have been tweeting endlessly mocking the ‘sickulars, pseudo liberals, libtards and congis’, whereas the other faction has been asking for the Prime Minister to either condemn or justify why he follows such accounts and, does not take necessary action.
Amidst all the madness, Gauri Lankesh's murder poses a threat to freedom.
