Kriti Sanon

Over the span of 8 years, Kriti Sanon has played a variety of fun characters, and here’s a throwback to all of them!

Making your mark as an outsider in Bollywood is not everyone’s cup of tea. It requires confidence, resilience, and lots of luck. Kriti Sanon, a simple next-door girl who came from Delhi made her way into the movies from the South. She made her acting debut in 2014 with Sukumar’s Telugu psychological thriller 1: Nenokkadine as the love interest of Mahesh Babu. Since then, she has only gone onwards and upwards in her career. Her first Bollywood film was Heropanti with Tiger Shroff which made quite a buzz at the box office. Everyone was curious to know who this newcomer was and she definitely made heads turn wherever she went. A lesser-known fact about her is that she's an engineer so she’s not just a pretty face.

But she has gone from playing a damsel in distress who always needs her hero to save the day like in Heropanti to playing characters who have an important story to tell or be the center of the show herself like in Mimi or Bareilly ki Barfi. Apart from being a good actor, she’s also been a great dancer with some really catchy numbers like Coca Cola from Luka Chuppi, Param Sundari from Mimi, and Sweety Tera Drama from Bareilly ki Barfi, she's a phenomenal performer through and through!

Let’s break down some of her famous characters from her filmography!

Dimpy- The one who made the hero look good

Heropanti, the name itself makes it all about the Hero. After Dimpy’s sister escapes from her father and elopes with her boyfriend, Dimpy’s father then kidnaps Bablu who falls in with her. Knowing her talent now, I wish she had more to do in the film but she made an impact on-screen regardless of that.

Bitti Mishra - The bubbly girl next door

Bitti from Bareilly Ki Barfi has to be one of her best characters till date. Kriti Sanon, Ayushmann Khurana and Rajkummar Rao together in one frame was a treat to watch. Bitti made us laugh, blush and relate to her desire to find true love.

Rashmi- The one who taught us live in relationships are not such a bad option

Rashmi from Luka Chuppi was a woman of today who chose to be in a live-in relationship. Although the movie showcases them trying to hide this fact from their parents, it also mirrors the reality that so many people in our country are not so well-versed with the concept.

Mimi- The one who gave out a strong social message

Mimi was one of the strongest performances we’ve seen in a while. Surrogacy, a topic that has never really been explored in Bollywood before, was brought to light by her. The struggles, the tough decisions, the unconditional, selfless love, everything a surrogate has to go through is talked about in this beautiful film.

Ishita and Aanya- Two complete family entertainers

Ishita from Dilwale and Aanya from Hum Do Humare Do are two characters from films that you can sit back and enjoy with your whole family. Sometimes quintessential Bollywood characters can give you that escape from reality that you need from your monotonous life and Ishita and Aanya do just that!
