On World Kindness Day, we'd love for these characters to take some inspiration from real life and simmer down.
At all times, the world can do with truckloads of kindness and in today's political climate, it's become the need of the hour. But the same cannot be said for some onscreen characters who make you want to reach into the screen and punch them a couple times. Don't get me wrong! These characters have my heart but their kindness is contagious and that's not the world we live in. Infact, that's not the world they live in which is precisely why they get walked over by every Tom, Dick and Harry. And if you're a fellow annoyingly kind gal, these instances will hit too close to home! Like when Jessica Day (New Girl) sees the best in people and thinks that her landlord, Remy, is helping her out of kindness and not because he's making advances towards her. Or when Phoebe (Friends) decides to be the surrogate for Frank Jr, her brother, so she can give him the best wedding gift of all!

As optimistic as these characters make me feel, I wanna slap a little society into them!
Jessica Day - New Girl
Jessica Day breaks for birds, cock-blocks herself, and basically spends all day thinking about other people's feelings. She carries portable feeling sticks, ffs! She breaks down when she looks at a photo of a puppy in a cup! She drives her ex-boyfriend and the girl he cheated with, to the airport. When she backslides and sleeps with her ex-boyfriend and finds out that he's already seeing someone, she helps him propose to the current girlfriend! Words aren't enough to describe this human version of a doormat.
Charles Boyle - Brooklyn Nine Nine
Even if Charles is the butt of all jokes at the Nine-Nine, he doesn't let that deter him. He is who he is. Even after a divorce followed by multiple heartbreaks, he's perpetually going 'full Boyle'. Pigs learn faster than him!
Ted - Ted Lasso
That 'believe' sign that Ted had put up in the locker room has ruined me for the world! And it's so hard to not swing over to his side by the end of season 3. He transforms you into a softie and noone is spared! Ted resembles a real person only when you watch him struggle with his mental health. Thank God for that arc!
Shashi - Engligh Vinglish
After constantly being disrespected by her daughter and husband, Shashi thinks that the best revenge is learning how to speak English, not setting them straight!
Phoebe Buffay - F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
There's nobody quite like Phoebe Buffay! Her mom killed herself, she's grown up without a dad, lived on the streets, her twin sister doesn't acknowledge her existence and she still believes that the sun shines out of everyone's butt.
Vivek and Sadhna - Hum Saath-Saath Hain
Vivek and Sadhna are practically thrown out of their house by Vivek's mother simply because Vivek is adopted. While every single character is mad at her, the two of them are all smiles while chilling in Rampur. At the end of the film, they come back home just as nicely without any qualms or discussions! Lovely, na?
Daijaan - Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum
I don't think Farida Jalal has a mean bone in her body! It's almost like she can't play a non-adarsh role! As Dajiaan aka DJ, she left her own child behind and took off to London to take care of her memsaab's children. Sure, they treat her as her own but where do your loyalties lie, woman?
Phool - Laapataa Ladies
An extremely soft spoken, innocent girl, Phool was exposed to the world for the first time when she unexpectedly found herself in an unfamiliar place. But even then, she was kind to the strangers she befriended and wanted to take care of them like family instead of looking for her lost husband!
Jacob Hill - Abbott Elementary
As the only white teacher among an all-black staff, Jacob is constantly trying to prove that he is not like other 'white guys' who are ignorant and unempathetic towards the black community. Despite being mostly pushed around by his colleagues who also love and accept his little geeky self, he finds himself undermined by his teenage students and he still continues to be there for them with his annoyingly kind and loving demeanor!
Albie - The White Lotus
He is that nice guy who’ll never let anything bad happen to you. In search of love, he let's women walk all over him. He also gets played by another woman where she pretends to be in trouble and takes a huge chunk of his money. And after all of this, he doesn't even lose his shit; he's trying to look at it from her perspective! I mean!
Morgan - The Mindy Project
Ransom aka Morgan Tookers mentions that he's served time but I don't understand how he made it out alive! He's the easiest person to pick on because he's too busy making everyone's lives better instead of concentrating on his own! Fool!
Anupama - Anupamaa
This series has been going on since donkey years simply because Anupama is unable to set boundaries with anyone and everyone. What I don't understand is why she's still in touch with her ex-mother-in-law especially when Baa hasn't said one kind thing to her since episode 1! Who puts themselves through this on purpose?
Tell me you don't want to smack some duniyadaari into these characters!
