#LetsKetchup: From degrading mythology to words that made us all want to puke, here are the dialogues of 2023 that made us want to chop off our ears after hearing them on the big screens!
Words said aloud are one of the trickiest parts of films as they have the power that can either make or break the film. A hero can make a comeback with dialogues as we saw with SRK's 'Zinda Hai' or 'Bete ko haath lagane se pehle baap se baat kar' or become the source of ridicule for a film as we saw with Adirpurush where 'Kapda tere baap ka, Tel tere baap ka, Aag bhi tere baap ki toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki' enraged people. Hence dialogues are what people remember the film by. This year, while we had some extremely whistle-worthy dialogues, we also had to sit through hearing some extremely degrading dialogues of 2023!
It's given that no one expects real-life conversations to be replicated on-screen but to make mythology relatable to the present generation, one doesn't have to stoop so low which happened with Adipurush. While comedy takes some liberty, it doesn't need to cross over to become sexist, misogynistic or make fun of another gender, all in the name of being funny like in Dream Girl 2, TJMM, or Shehzada. And most importantly, we all realise it's a film and everything isn't supposed to be taken too seriously but that doesn't mean all logic and common sense needs to be let go of like in Animal, Bawaal, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, or Ganapath.
