Netflix reveals ensemble cast of upcoming regal rom com 'The Royals’

Netflix and Pritish Nandy Communications are collaborating for a regal romance web series, 'The Royals', starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter.

Everyone loves a good royal rom-com, and Netflix is bringing us just that with 'The Royals'. The series will feature a fresh pairing of Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar. In the video of the cast announcement, the lead couple can be seen waltzing through a royal palace in Rajasthan. The Royals will also mark the first collaboration between Netflix and Pritish Nandy Communications.

Making it even more special, the legendary Zeenat Aman is returning to the screen with a special appearance, marking her Netflix debut. The series features an ensemble cast including Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny.

Though details are scarce, we know that The Royals, directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, is set to be a new-age romance. Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, shared her excitement, saying, "Everybody loves a good romance. The Royals is a modern-day regal romance with a spectacular setting and a dazzling cast. We can’t wait for our members to be enthralled by this exciting contemporary fairy tale with a generous dose of wit and humour—signature to Rangita and Ishita Nandy. It’s been an amazing journey to develop our first project with them and our stunning cast led by the ever-so-gorgeous Bhumi, a very charming Ishaan Khattar, and a gregarious cameo by Zeenat Aman. We can’t wait to bring you this treat soon."

The Royals aims to blend romance, desire, ambition, and the allure of royalty. Whether it will become the perfect binge-watch remains to be seen.
