After playing the iconic Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. will now be seen as a villain in Avengers DoomsDay and it has come as a shock to most of us!
Robert Downey Jr. is arguably the most loved Avenger in the MCU. He has been an icon for kids as Iron Man for eons and he’s had some really big whistle worthy moments on-screen as the titular superhero. We’re all well aware about what happens to him in Endgame and we'd literally just recovered from it and accepted his brutal fate. But we guess the Russo Brothers weren't done with him yet! The head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige and Robert Downey Jr. himself announced the news yesterday at the San Diego Comin-Con 2024. In a stage full of people, RDJ walked in wearing a green attire and a new mask, the crowd went crazy when he unveiled his face and it was announced that he was going to play the villainous Doctor Doom in Avengers DoomsDay and Avengers Secret Wars
Just like me, a lot of y’all might be confused about how someone, who has played another iconic character, can come back as someone completely different! Well, the MCU is filled with many universes where various different arcs and a plethora of characters exist. Doctor Doom is one of them and the film is slated to release in May 2026. Soon after the announcement, Robert Downey Jr. shared a post on his Instagram and captioned it as “New mask, same task”. Of course his return has brought out ecstatic reactions from fans and it’s all everyone can talk about in the Marvel world!
