As the country debated over Anubhav Sinha's new series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, a lot happened in the industry over this last week. Fahadh Faasil has been reportedly roped in to star in Imtiaz Ali's next film. At the same time, Alia Bhatt and Rajkummar Rao took to their Instagram accounts to unveil posters of their upcoming films. In the West, Tom Hiddleston's new look from his forthcoming project was dropped and Adam Brody and Kristen Bell's rom-com series trailer was released.

Fahadh Faasil in Imtiaz Ali's next 

According to reports, Fahadh Faasil, the Malayalam superstar, is ready to make his Bollywood debut in a film helmed by Imtiaz Ali. This film is reportedly a pure romantic drama, and the female lead, opposite Fahadh, is yet to be finalised.

Alia Bhatt starrer Jigra and Rajkumar Rao starrer Maalik posters unveiled

Alia Bhatt unveils a new poster of Jigra which is directed by Vasan Bala and features Vedang Raina. The film will be released on October 11, but from the caption and the poster, Alia plays the sister who is protecting her brother, played by Vedang, while fighting an action-packed battle. 

Rajkummar Rao, following the resounding success of his latest film, Stree 2announced his new movie, Maalik, directed by Pulkit, on his birthday. He shared a poster featuring him in a never-seen-before avataar and stated that he had started shooting for it. 

First look of Tom Hiddleston from his upcoming film 'The Life of Chuck'

The first images from Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Stephen King's adaptation, The Life of Chuck, have been unveiled, and it gives fans a glimpse at Tom Hiddleston as Charles Krantz, whose life story in the film will be told in reverse, starting with his death from a brain tumour at 39 and moving back to his childhood in a supposed haunted house.

The Sector 36 trailer gives us a glimpse of a thrilling case of a serial killer 

Inspired by actual events, the Sector 36 trailer packs an inviting punch where an honest and committed Deepak Deobriyal plays a cop who is behind the notoriously dangerous but troubled Vikrant Massey, who kidnaps and murders small children. Directed by Aditya Nimabalkar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Joyti Deshpande, Sector 36 will be released on Netflix on September 13. 

The Superboys of Malegaon trailer released

Written by Varun Grover and directed by Reema Kagti, the Superboys of Malegoan looks like a film that is here to pay tribute to cinema and the hope it brings to people's otherwise bleak lives. It is about how a few boys, different from the rest of the world, end up making a film with all the jugaad. It has already been selected to premiere at the BFI London Film Festival and is slated to be released in cinemas in January 2025. 

Inside Out 2 surpasses The Lion King; becomes highest-grossing animated film of all time 

Disney-Pixar’s Inside Out 2 has surpassed The Lion King 2019 remake to become the highest-grossing animated feature of all time. Directed by Kelsey Mann, this film grossed $9.8 million globally ($2.7m in the U.S. and $7.1m abroad) for a grand total of $1.66 billion, pushing it past the $1.65 billion global take of The Lion King.

Son Pari nostalgia hits social media 

Actors Tanvi Hegde, Mrinal Kulkarniand Ashok Lokhande met recently and relived old memories, which Tanvi, who played Fruity in the show, shared on Instagram. She shared a couple of images from the Son Pari reunion, where the trio recreated their pose in one of the show's posters. After that, it was hard for the internet to stop hearing the title song in their heads when they saw these pictures, given how this show was a part of our childhood.

Mehta Boys to premiere at Chicago South Asian Film Festival 

Boman Irani is making his directorial debut with The Mehta Boys, which stars Avinash Tiwary (Laila Majnu, Madagaon Express) and himself. The film is all set to have its world premiere at the 15th Chicago South Asian Film Festival on September 20, as it is the opening film of the festival. 

Nightbitch and La Cocina trailer released

In the recently released trailer of writer-director Marielle Heller‘s horror-comedy feature Nightbitch, we see Amy Adams grappling with the idea of turning into a dog. Also starring Scoot McNairy, Zoë Chao and Mary Holland, the film, releasing on December 6, centres on an artist who put her career on hold to become a mother and suddenly realizes that she might be transforming into a canine.

Writer and director Alonso Ruizpalacios's La Cocina trailer was also released and stars Rooney Mara, Raúl Briones, Anna Diaz, Motell Foster, Oded Fehr and Eduardo Olmos. Set in the heart of a bustling Times Square kitchen, the film centres on dreams and desperation colliding as the staff each chase the elusive American dream. 

Manvat Murders trailer released

A gripping crime thriller series, Manvat Murders, reveals one of the most horrifying historical events that shocked the nation from 1972 to 1974. This terrifying chapter will be unveiled in the upcoming series directed by Ashish Bende, centering on the critical hours that could make or break the case. It follows investigative teams led by the esteemed Detective Officer from CID, Ramakant S. Kulkarni, aka the Sherlock Holmes of India, who will be seen highlighting the unwavering commitment, persistence, and expertise needed to unravel the most complex cases and faces the challenges in solving the series of mysterious murders in rural Maharashtra during the 1970s. 

Nobody Wants This trailer released

A worldwind romantic saga with a hot and tempting Rabbi and an independent out loud podcaster seems intriguing but like an impossible idea, right? Well, Kristen Bell and Adam Brody explore precisely that in Nobody Wants This, and according to the trailer, this rom-com series looks like it just might be what hopeless romantics need to believe. The show is set to come out on Netflix on September 26. 

Aapka Apna Zakir to go off-air 

Zakir Khan’s new experiment on Indian TV with the show Aapka Apna Zakir has been cancelled after less than a month. The show, which premiered on August 10 and featured Gopal Dutt, Rithvik Dhanjani, Paresh Ganatra and Shweta Tiwari as the supporting cast was discontinued because it wasn't able to garner enough TRPs.

Will and Harper will soon stream on Netflix

Will Ferrell and his close friend, former head writer at SNL, Harper Steele, embark on a cross-country road trip together after Harper comes out as a trans woman in the documentary Will & Harper. The film will be in select theatres this September and on Netflix on September 27. 

Anil Kapoor gets featured in Time Magazine

Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to announce his inclusion in Time Magazine's prestigious list of the 100 "Most Influential People in AI 2024." The list, released on Thursday, features 15 Indian or Indian-origin people, including Union Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani
