Bel-Air trailer

Check out the new Bel-Air trailer as the show gets a ‘fresh’ reboot with a darker, grittier take of the classic show.

‘Now, this is a story all about how... My life got flipped turned upside down.' There are very few classic American shows that have been able to reach out to every generation and still manage to stay timeless. Will Smith’s American classic ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ continues to stir laughter. But the fresh prince himself joined hands with the streaming site Peacock and gave the sitcom a dark, coming-of-age reboot. And the new Bel-Air trailer gives us a glimpse of the same.

The trailer takes us through the same 'ol life of Will Smith as he moves to his Uncle Phil and Aunt Vivian's place after facing some trouble in his hometown, West Philly. He moves to Southern California in the hopes of starting afresh and turns his life upside down. But instead of being a fun sitcom, the new reboot turns out to be a lot more dramatic.

Check out the trailer:

The concept of turning the sitcom into drama happened after a fan shared the idea on social media while also making a mock trailer for the same in 2019 showing how it would look. This caught the attention of the OG fresh prince, Will Smith who decided to take it forward and turn it into an actual show. While Will Smith states that he got into one little fight and his mom got scared in the original title song, this trailer actually shows the reasons for her to feel like that. There's a gun at the basketball court, jail, and a criminal looking for him.

Actor Jabari Banks will be playing the iconic role in the show. The news of him becoming a part of the show was broken to him by Will Smith himself with a video that quickly went viral after. Adrian Holmes as Uncle Phil, Cassandra Freeman as Vivian Banks, Olly Sholotan as Carlton Banks, and Jimmy Akingbola as Geoffrey. Directed and written by Morgan Cooper, the show will start streaming from February 14 on Peacock.
