Gender stereotypes associated with makeup are fading and young creators deserve credit for it. Here's how content creator, Ankush Bahuguna accelerated this conversation with his content.
Many of us are conditioned to think that makeup is only to be used by women and we grew up with a number of such notions. Though mainstream culture has started to normalise makeup for men now, it is still not a very prevalent thing in India. Since the boom of social media and influencers, creators like Ankush Bahuguna have been able to create an impact and normalise things like makeup being used by and for men.
Social media has played a big role in popularising the vocal culture in youth but it's still very rare to come across people who are ready to break gender stereotypes when it comes to makeup. Ankush experiments with makeup on himself and collaborates fellow creators. In fact, over a very short time, he's gone from being a beauty blogger to one who has a YouTube show dedicated to 'Wing It With Ankush'. We have seen him work with Sheeba Chadha, Anusha Dandekar and so many more.
He is very good at what he does but what makes him stand out is his love for his craft. Apart from this, his sense of humour never fails to catch our attention. We appreciate how Ankush always maintains the authenticity of his work and makes us re-think some gender stereotypes we've heard of growing up.
