Tennis is one amazing sport that we love to watch be it on the lawn or the one played on the clay court. While it is religiously followed around the world it took some time for it to become popular in our country. The Indian women's Tennis, in particular, took 30 years to have a breakthrough and to represent at the World group playoff. It wasn't the easiest fiels to crack but it only took eight years for Indian tennis player Ankita Raina to represent the country at the global level.

Ankita Ravinderkrishnan Raina is an Indian tennis player hailing from Kashmir's Pulwama district but she was born and brought up in Gujarat. She has represented her home state, Gujarat in many national-level events. She started playing the sport at the age of five and now stands as the number one player in India in both doubles and singles with a total of 11 ITF titles to her name.

As a person who idolises Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Sania Mirza and Rafael Nadal, she won her first professional single in 2012 in New Delhi. The biggest quarterfinal of her career was 2017 Mumbai Open which was her breakthrough tournament. Ankita became the fifth Indian to get into the world's top 200 ladies singles ranking and stood at the 181st position. Her current position is 160 as of March 2nd, 2020. She is also the only Indian along with Sania Mirza to have represented the country at the Asian Games.
