All-rounder Andre Russell reached his 300th wicket in T20 Cricket, hits milestone amid KKR's massive loss against RCB.
With AB De Villiers' spectacular performance that led to victory for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Monday, there's one more who hit a milestone. All-rounder Andre Russell, after knocking out RCB's opener Devdutt Padikkal, reached his 300th wicket in T20 cricket, during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
Russell who was unsure about playing this game due to his knee injury that he picked while a run-chase against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on last Saturday, sure did come back with a bang! The right-arm fast bowler had dived at the boundary to save four runs, during the 2nd over of KXIP innings, when his knee was severely injured. With Padikkal's middle stump wicket, Russell has a whopping 300 T20 wickets in his achievements. By this, he is now the third West Indian bowler to join Dwayne Bravo (509) and Sunil Narine (390). Among others, he is in the 10th position, while no Indian bowlers are yet on the list!
This maestro from the Caribbean has been part of the IPL family and KKR since the year 2012 while playing in 71 and counting matches. With an average of 27.36 in IPL, Andre has taken 61 wickets to date.
The game between RCB and KKR at Sharjah Cricket Stadium was going head-to-head with AB's blasting 73 off 33 balls which had 5 fours and 6 sixes that lead to the much-awaited victory. With this, RCB has now come at par with Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the IPL pointers table.
