Amit Trivedi is a composer, singer, and music producer of our generation and has given us numerous soulful songs to listen to that have not just good melody but also lyrics that touch the heart!
Born and brought up in Mumbai, Amit Trivedi started his journey as a musician by joining a band called Om in his college days. They made an album together after Times Music discovered them but due to lack of promotions it did not fare well. He then went on to make background music for theatre, television and jingles for big brands like Mc Donald’s and Airtel. But one fine day, singer Shilpa Rao suggested him to Anurag Kashyap to compose music for Dev D and that’s what really put him on the map and his career took off. He won awards like the R.D. Burman Award and the Filmfare Award for Best Background Score for his very first gig as a composer in the world of movies. He then went on to write compositions for movies that are so well remembered for their music today like Aisha and Wake Up Sid. We’ve all succumbed to the heavenly vibe of Iktara and Shaam and that was composed by none other than him!
Trivedi is more than just a composer though. He has lent his voice to so many ethereal renditions that we have loved listening to time and again! Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi, two movies that are complete polar opposites from each other but both had songs sung by him which perfectly fit the mood of the two films. He also sang ‘Naina Da Kya Kasoor’ in the National Award winning film Andhadhun. He knows what a movie needs and brings out the essence in all of them through his songs. Like in Queen, his songs perfectly described Rani’s experience and what she was going through in her self reflecting journey in Paris. If you look at his career trajectory, you’d know that his passion for music goes beyond singing and composing. He has been doing it for so long and also has stepped in as a music producer and director in many Hindi films.
