Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat starring Alaya F and Karan Mehta released in the cinemas on February 3. Let's find out the Janta's review on this love story!
Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat revolves around Amrita (Alaya F.) who is a bubbly school girl, and her life consists of three main things, watching movies by secretly taking DVDs from a local shop owner’s son Yaqub (Karan Mehta), making funny videos under a disguise and tuning in to DJ Mohabbat’s podcasts. She’s an avid fan of the DJ and she desperately wishes to attend his much awaited Holi party at a secret location in the hills. But before she could make plans, her conservative Hindu family puts her under house arrest for spending time with Yaqub because he is a Muslim. Blinded by their passion for DJ Mohabbat’s music, the two youngsters elope from home, setting off a chain of events that are sure to not end well.
Meanwhile in a parallel world, Harmeet (Karan Mehta) is trying hard to make his mark as a musician, but just then Ayesha (Alaya F.), a rich spoilt daughter of a London-based Pakistani businessman starts crushing and obsessing over him, to a point that her actions start affecting his life adversely. Both Harmeet and Ayesha look exactly like Amrita and Yaqub but none of them are related to each other in any way or even in the same world.
The story left most of the Janta bored and confused. There were a lot of expectations given that it was an Anurag Kashyap film but it’s definitely not his best work according to the Janta. Alaya F and Karan Mehta both felt missable to some and like rising new stars to the others. Even Vicky Kaushal’s character (DJ Mohabbat) could not pull the audience to the cinema theaters even after the mixed reactions from everyone.
