Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas's Afwaah hit the theatres on May 5 and the Janta had a lot of things to spill!
Written and directed by Sudhir Mishra, Afwaah is a political thriller that centres around the repercussions of a single rumour. The film stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bhumi Pednekar and Sumeet Vyas in lead roles along with Sharib Hashmi and Sumit Kaul and is produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar under the banners Benaras Media Works and T-Series Films.
Set in a small town, the movie explores the repercussions of a single rumour and how it spreads like wildfire. It follows the lives of three individuals: a cunning politician, Vicky (Sumeet Vyas), an advertising professional, Rahab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), and Nivi (Bhumi Pednekar). The story kicks off with Nivi and Rahab getting caught in a rumour that infuriates Vicky and creates a dispute between them. As the rumour spreads, she faces judgment, snub, and verbal abuse from the community. Her relationships suffer, including her bond with her loving family and close friends.
Afwaah manages to outshine in front of the Janta who thought that the movie was thought provoking, meaningful and conveyed a complex horror of a time where the internet wasn't a thing without being instructional. Overall they found it engaging and some also appreciated the performances of the cast.
Here's what the Janta had to share!
A whole lot of truth behind this #Afwaah.

What a coincidence. Both releases are based on Whatsapp university.
First one on perils of Whatsapp forwards and second movie is itself a Whatsapp forward (a lengthy one)#Afwaah#TheKerelaStory pic.twitter.com/PsSTwqtnwF— Anu Mittal (@anushakunmittal) May 5, 2023

People usually say 'Afwaahon par dhyaan na dein' but they still fall for it. That's why brilliant film maker @IAmSudhirMishra decided to create #Afwaah, an important film against rumour/hate mongering and its deadly side-effects. Not a perfect film but still a brilliant one. pic.twitter.com/eoro4zPeLh

Had the privilege of watching #Afwaah last night. Still thinking about it. It's a tight slap to a generation that believes internet is everything.
I am not sure if anyone could have made such a courageous film, except @IAmSudhirMishra Sir.
This will be remembered for years! pic.twitter.com/jGnXiG4389— Kunal Kushwah (@TheKunalKushwah) May 5, 2023
