Aditi Rao Hydari is an effervescent yet highly underrated actor of our time who lights up the frame with her charm every time she is on-screen!
Very few actors have this old-school cinematic charm in them where they always make you feel like they’re in a classic black-and-white film with a touch of soft focus. Aditi Rao Hydari would be the flag bearer for that. Everyone loves her for her soft-spoken nature and of course because she's undeniably gorgeous. It’s a shame that we don’t get to see her on-screen as much as we’d like to. Nevertheless, she’s been a part of some iconic and heartwarming films in her career.
She started her journey as a Bharatanatyam dancer, which clearly explains why she's so poised and graceful as an actor. She made her debut in the movies with the Malayalam film Prajapathi after which one of her first notable works in Hindi cinema was in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Delhi 6 where she played a spinster in a society that frowns upon unmarried women. We still love seeing her in the song “Genda Phool” from the movie. She also played a supporting role in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar where she shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor, portraying the character of a journalist. Some of her other works include her rom-com London, Paris, New York, Murder 3, Bhoomi, and Wazir.

Her second highlight would be her collaboration with Mani Ratnam. She played the lead role in his Tamil film, Kaatru Veliyidai in which she portrayed the character of a doctor in Kargil during the 1999 war who was in an abusive relationship with a fighter pilot. Her second collaboration with him was in Chekka Chivantha Venam where she was the lead in an ensemble drama.
Apart from her movies, she is known for her subtle yet beautiful fashion choices. Nobody can pull off a lehenga or a saree like she does. Her Instagram bio reads “In a world full of Kardashians, be an Audrey” and that pretty much sums up her style in the best way. Sometimes classic, sometimes colorful, her outfits serve some serious style goals!
