A legacy, a body of work, and her reign over the box office is beyond what you and I can ever imagine; we're talking about the one and the only Kareena Kapoor Khan!
Earlier this year when Diljit Dosanjh said ‘Hogi Rihanna, hogi Beyonce, saddi toh ye hi Rihanna, ye hi Beyonce’ we all hooted for that sentence simply because truer words had not been spoken! There is no one who looks glamorous in everything except Kareena Kapoor Khan. The way she speaks, the way she talks, the way her eyes just say it all, you can tell she was born to be a star from day 1. Descending from the Kapoor family, she is Bollywood royalty for sure but she worked hard and showcased her versatility to the world proving why she’s worth being where she is today.
Over the past 25 years, she has given us just way too many characters to reminisce and go back to over and over again. As I was making a list of her characters over the past two decades, I realized that each and every character of hers is different from the other. She’s played such polar opposite personalities but always made sure she played strong headed women who have a voice of their own on-screen. She was a sass-machine who only cared about good looks, good looks and good looks as Pooh, a bubbly, happy-go-lucky girl as Geet, she played a sex worker who falls in love in Chameli, she was a grieving mother in The Buckingham Murders and she never hesitated before showing how dark an actress’ life can get in Bollywood through her role in Heroine. She was doing commercial and content films before these terms were even a thing!
Looking beyond the actor, there’s so much to take away from her even as a person. She has this certain non-chalantness to her which I really love. She doesn’t overthink things simply because she is so confident in everything that she does. She can wear a stunning dress for the red carpet and look drop dead gorgeous but she can also pull off an easy pajama look with a tied up bun and still look like she woke up looking like a queen! I've grown up watching her films over these 25 years and I draw so much inspiration from her on-screen and off-screen personality into my own life.
