There was a time when all celebrities used to worry about while going outside were their clothes, but not anymore! In this era of Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, they need to take care of every movement. One hair out of place and BAM! You’re now the trending topic on internet and not for the right reasons.
2018 was nothing short of brutal when it came to trolling the celebrities. Take a look:
1. Anant Ambani
Mukesh Ambani’s son was trolled because of his speech at the 40th Reliance Anniversary event. This is not the first time Anant has been a victim of internet’s trolls, as he was formerly obese as well.
Look at his mother!
— Garima A. Mittal (@geeeammm) January 1, 2018
If I were him, my parents would have left the place embarrassed without anyone noticing & jayedaad se bhi nikal dete! :Dhttps://t.co/aC092iP35u
Anant Ambani's speech was awesome. Especially the parts where he had the SAME expressions I do when I accidentally stub my toe on a piece of furniture. pic.twitter.com/wk5qdIly6n
— Akshar (@AksharPathak) January 2, 2018
Anant Ambani is already getting the Rahul Gandhi treatment. He looks horribly out of place, would rather be doing something else but is still there to make his Mommy happy.
— Ray Stings (@Purba_Ray) January 3, 2018
2. Suhana Khan
After SRK’s daughter appeared on the cover of Vogue, the internet broke into streams of memes and comments about nepotism. Suhana’s statement about her struggles as a star kid (whether actually said or not) were also whip lashed.
Suhana Khan on the cover of Vogue almost feels like she saw Jahnvi Kapoor and went "Papa, mereko bhi chahiye"!
— Bellyrina (@BombayBellyrina) August 1, 2018
Suhana Khan on vogue cover ?? Like seriously?? ?
— Meher (@OfficialMeher) August 1, 2018
Portraying a kid as a sex symbol and being proud of it ?? ?
Simply Pathetic !! ?
Nepotism Rocks !! ?
Slow claps ??
I'm actually a big time Shahrukh Khan fan. But why is Suhana Khan on the cover of Vogue? It isn't even celebrity bashing because she isn't one yet. Her father is a star.
— Sanjana Paul (@sanjanapaul28) August 1, 2018
So my dad is a CA, will ICAI put me on their monthly magazine cover? @VOGUEIndia
3. Anushka Sharma
From dissing a guy for throwing garbage on the road, to being shot down for getting a picture clicked with the Indian, to Sui Dhaga memes –I think it won’t be wrong to call her the Troll Queen of 2018.
Vice captain is in last row and First Lady of Indian cricket is in front row. These people giving lecture online few days back. @AnushkaSharma
— Ali MG (@aliasgarmg) August 7, 2018
No Hard feelings but I heard recently BCCI denied players from having their wives around when on tour in England. WTH is Anushka doing among Indian team?? Rules are meant for Team and captain should lead from front in every aspect. Just saying
— Akash (@ambade_akash) August 7, 2018
Is this true that once @AnushkaSharma had some spare silicon to throw away but as there was no dustbin nearby she pasted it on her lips because #SwachhBharat?
— Muhfat™ (@kjshikhar) June 17, 2018

4. Sania Mirza
The star tennis player was trolled by the netizens by asking whether her baby would be Indian or Pakistani. She was also made fun of when she wore a mustard dress for her fashion sense.

5. Sonam Kapoor
The actress was trolled by social media users who thought she was anti-national and anti-Hindu because she spoke out against the Kathua rape case. She was also in spotlight when people said she was being insensitive by celebrating her wedding just 10 weeks after Sridevi’s death.
@sonamakapoor today you are standing in the line of Anti-Nationals. Not sure what you achieved by shaming "Hindustan". I curse you from bottom of my heart and wish your daughter same spotlight you gave to Kathu girl. #ShameOnSonamKapoor @mrsfunnybones @AnupamPKher Bycot marriage.
— Nader Yosef (@BharatInNader) May 7, 2018
Happy for #SonamKiShaadi but as a big fan of our ICON #Sridevi it's sad that just after 10 weeks of her demise, The Kapoor family are ready to celebrate a marriage! You need so much time to overcome a death but where are the EMOTIONS in todays "modern" times??? DISRESPECTFULL... pic.twitter.com/tL2D4t6MVV
— Dilip Kumar Fan Club (@Amirmurt) May 7, 2018
Is Sonam Kapoor pregnant??
— Leslie Pinto (@LesliePintoo) May 7, 2018
Then what led her to rush into marriage. She couldn't wait for few months. That woman was a part of your family, damn it!!!
We fans are mourning Sridevi's death than her own family members.#Sridevi#SrideviLivesForever?#SonamKiShaadi ?
6. Anshula Kapoor
Arjun Kapoor’s sibling got trolled and received hatred because she didn’t say “Hey Karan, it’s me” on Koffee With Karan, even though Jahnvi Kapoor clarified that Anshula couldn’t hear her and had asked later what the call was about.
7. Swara Bhaskar
Swara was trolled for a scene in the movie Veere di Wedding where she’s seen masturbating. People burst out saying she was a prostitute, and that she’s a shame on the Indian society (progressive, aren’t we?)
@ReallySwara i think after returning from pak u really change as prostitutes .
— Abhishek Thakur, Abvp,Bhu, varanasi (@Abhishe00046571) June 4, 2018
U r same of india .@swara can u do this in front of ur mom.or brother
Pakistan is the country that you @ReallySwara referred to,in 2015, as the “Best country you have ever visited” and it has only gotten better in the last few years in every aspect along with when it comes to having bigger hearts and welcoming our guests . 1/3
— URWA HOCANE (@VJURWA) June 2, 2018
We still believe that film #VeereDiWedding will face huge fall on Monday. Because Too many ppl are not crazy in India who can go to theatres to watch actors like Sonam n Swara in a semi porn film.

8. Radhika Apte
The actress was heavily turned into meme material for doing too many projects with Netflix India. Netflix replied back wittily but the memes outnumbered its responses.

9. Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Priyanka and Nick recently got married, and the internet didn’t lose its chance on making jokes on her as she is 10 years older than Jonas. She was heavily accused for marrying him for materialistic goals which were shot down when all celebs stood by her and supported her. Priyanka was trolled for wedding firecrackers while she was against bursting crackers on Diwali in an ad.

For a publication that “shows women’s what they are made of” @TheCut has a lot to answer for . The article on @priyankachopra was sexist , racist and disgusting. Also it’s written by a woman which is so sad. It reeks of envy and bitterness. @mRiah shame on you! https://t.co/bmbbX7LrAT
— Sonam K Ahuja (@sonamakapoor) December 5, 2018
I saw that piece in The Cut on Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas this morning, and after working out that it wasn’t just desperately failed satire, was honestly horrified: it was spiteful, unethical, racist. Glad they took it down, but I don’t think a one-line apology is enough.

10. Amitabh Bachchan
The mega star didn’t escape the clutches of social media either this year. Big B was trolled for bursting crackers on Diwali while fans were expecting him to have a pollution free Diwali.
11. Disha Patani
The actress became a victim of viral internet memes after she wore a Calvin Klein sports bra instead of a blouse on her Diwali lehenga.
When you took "kuch bhi pehenlo tum pe sab suit karta hai" way too seriously pic.twitter.com/I9ARDjAPto

12. Esha Gupta
Esha Gupta received hatred from the internet after she was seen showing the middle finger in an Instagram video that she posted. She replied saying how this shows the double standards of our society where it is acceptable if a man does it.
13. Parineeti Chopra
Earlier, there used to be lots of comments on Parineeti being overweight. Now when that issue doesn’t exist, people trolled her for coloring her hair red. Give a person a break, maybe?

14. Mira Rajput
Shahid Kapoor’s wife recently had her screen debut in an advertisement of a beauty product. Social media relentlessly trolled her for her acting skills as well as the fact that she endorsed a cosmetic which consisted many chemicals. She was also lashed at because of a picture where she is walking ahead of a maid holding Zain instead of carrying him herself.
15. Abhishek Bachchan
Junior Bachchan is known for his witty replies on social media, and this time was no different. He was trolled by a Twitter user for still living with his parents, to which he gave a fitting reply.
Yes! And it’s the proudest moment for me to be able to be there for them, as they have for me. Try it sometime, you might feel better about yourself.
— Abhishek Bachchan (@juniorbachchan) April 17, 2018
16. Jahnvi Kapoor
The new kid of B-Town was trolled for celebrating her birthday just 10 days after her mother’s demise.
17. Katrina Kaif
After Priya Varrier’s wink video went viral, people started targeting Katrina Kaif saying she was expressionless. Memes were made on this too (obviously!)
Priya Prakash Varrier gave all types of expression in that two minutes what Katrina kaif couldn’t give in her entire Bollywood career.
— Akshay (@AkshayKatariyaa) February 11, 2018
Katrina Kaif should spent some time with Priya Prakash Varrier and learn... how to give perfect expressions.
— Sunil- the cricketer (@1sInto2s) February 11, 2018
The expressions given by priya prakash varrier in those 2 minutes were more than what Nargis Fakhri and Katrina Kaif couldn't give in their entire career #PriyaPrakashVarrier
— Hamid Shaikh (@itsHamidShaikh) February 11, 2018
18. Ajaz Khan
Big Boss fame, Ajaz Khan was lashed at by Twitterati when he tweeted saying that he’d lost respect for Big B because he met with the Israeli PM. Fans reminded him of the time when he said Quran was over the Constitution.
@SrBachchan sir he is killer he kill so many children and so many innocents today I lost respect for u and everyone in this pic pic.twitter.com/HB3HJ0auUh
— Ajaz Khan (@AjazkhanActor) January 19, 2018
You don’t even respect Indian constitution because if today you are asked to choose Indian constitution or quran then you will choose quran and not Indian constitution so don’t give lectures to others
— Vineet (@kumar_vineeet) January 20, 2018
Good or bad, the internet has always been the celebrities’ companion and ours as well. While some trolls were totally uncalled for, others gave us memes that were hilarious!
What’s your take on this celebrities ‘on a tight leash’ era of social media?
